Does Telegram Notify When You Screenshot?
Telegram is a unique messaging app that ensures the privacy of its users and offers two types of chats: normal chat and secret chat.
So, does Telegram notify when you screenshot?
This answer is both yes and no.
For regular chat: Telegram does not notify you when screenshotting.
For secret chat: Owing to its end-to-end encryption, only iPhone users can capture the screen, but Telegram notifies others of the screenshots. Also, the screenshot is black without anything. For Android users, Telegram alerts you, "Can't take screenshots due to security policy."
Therefore, what if you need to take screenshots in Telegram secret chat when you suffer harassment and want to get evidence to take legal action? Keep learning to unveil 4 tricks to do so!
Method 1. Set up a Virtual Android System
A virtual Android system runs entire copies of your physical Android operating system and contains full app stacks. In the new virtual Android system, you can install Telegram, which is a copy of the original Telegram that has the same functionality but allows you to violate the screenshot restriction in secret chats.
Before you start, go to the Play Store and search for Virtual Android to get your preferred app. Here, I use Virtual Master as an example to show how to take Telegram secret chat screenshots:
- Step 1.Open Virtual Master and tap the "Create VM" button on the main interface.
- Step 2.Follow the instructions to select an Android version to download.
- Step 3.Then, click on "Start VM" when complete.
- Step 4.In the VM, tap "Add Apps" and you'll see a list of apps.
- Step 5.Locate "Telegram" and tap "Import."
- Step 6.Back to the main screen of this virtual Android system, and open Telegram.
- Step 7.Enter your account credentials to log in.
- Step 8.Open a secret chat, and then you can take screenshots without notifying others.
Method 2. Try Google Assistant
According to some Reddit users, they asked Google Assistant to take screenshots in Telegram secret chat and then it worked well. However, this method is not 100% working on all devices. I took my Samsung Galaxy to test, but it showed me a black screen. Now, try your luck to see if this works:
- Step 1.Open the Telegram secret chat window.
- Step 2.Then, activate Google Assistant by long-taping the Home button or saying "Hey, Google."
- Step 3.Next, tell Google Assistant to take a screenshot.
Method 3. Capture the Preview Messages
When receiving a message on Telegram, you can directly stay at the preview window and take a screenshot of the latest secret message without notifying.
If you need to screenshot previous messages from the secret chat, just delete the subsequent messages until the wanted message pops up in the preview chat window.
Method 4. Take Pictures with Another Device
The last yet easiest method is to seek the help of another device, especially when you need to capture the whole screen of the secret chat or record the scrolling screen. Now, pick up another phone to take photos after opening the secret conversation on Telegram.
